Accessibility with iPads

One thing we love about iPads in schools is their accessiblity features. Accessibility gives equity to all students allowing all students to learn, contribute and personally succeed. This week Rose lead professional learning sessions with with education assistants and Aboriginal Teaching assistants. The teaching assistants are the amazing group of staff who work alongside teachers to help engage all students in the classroom.

Popular accessibility features covered were:

  • Spoken content: speak selection, typing feedback

  • Display and text size: colour filters for dyslexia.

  • Air drop

  • Screen recording

Teachers were particularly keen to try out the speak selection and typing feedback features.  Participants found it interesting that they have had their iPads for a long time and were still learning new features and how they can apply them to their workplace.
